The Climate Project, The Climate Project is an international non-profit organization founded by Nobel Laureate and former Vice President Al Gore, dedicated to preserving the climate balance on which the world depends.  Our mission is to raise public awareness of the current climate crisis through our 2,600 volunteers from around the world, all of whom have been personally trained by Mr. Gore to educate the public on climate change. TCP presenters give a version of the slide show featured in the Academy-Award winning film An Inconvenient Truth and have reached a combined audience of more than 5 million people worldwide.

In addition to enabling the general public to schedule climate change presentations in their local area free of charge, our site provides the latest news on climate change and related issues.

Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students, Northern Kentucky University

Split Rock Conservation Park Northern Kentucky is developing rapidly and the ultimate cost of that development is in our land and natural resources. Every year more land in our community is swallowed up by the demands of an increasing population. Nearby and convenient access to natural areas where students can safely experience and learn about nature is almost non-existent. Students of all ages need opportunities to explore the outdoors, learn about local biodiversity and gain the experience to make informed decisions for future development. The concept for Split Rock Conservation Park is to utilize the local biodiversity and history as an educational resource and to promote sound conservation practices. Programs and experiences offered by Split Rock Conservation Park will promote outdoor exploration and conservation of natural resources while complementing Kentucky's educational curriculum standards.

Nature Academy
The academy is the work of Rich Detzel, who operates it on a 110-acre patch of Owen County. Here he welcomes school groups for "Windows to the Wild" educational programs on raptors, reptiles, and bees. Kids also can hike, fish in the eight-acre lake, learn about herbal remedies from plants many would consider "weeds," and explore a little of Native American culture: The property includes a semi-permanent wooden structure modeled on the dwellings of the first Kentuckians. There's also a more permanent wooden structure, Detzel's hand-built lodge made largely of railroad ties salvaged from Cincinnati's old Union Terminal. The interior includes a variety of other architectural pieces recovered from churches slated for demolition as well as hand-made wooden chandeliers. The Nature Academy is not open to the general public, but school and senior citizens' groups can arrange to visit. Rich also can provide speakers on topics like falconry and beekeeping.
